The math department at UNC-CH will host the AMC-8 contest on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, starting at 6:30 pm in Phillips Hall on UNC campus (room TBD, but most likely Phillips 332).

The AMC-8 is a 25 question, 40 minute multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics containing challenging and interesting problems. Students across the United States and Canada take this contest every year. Any students in grade 8 and below can participate. Calculators are not allowed.

Please visit the MAA website  for general information on the AMC-8 . The Art of Problem Solving maintains an extensive collection old AMC-8 contests which you can use to practice.

There is no required fee to take the contest at UNC-Chapel Hill; however, a $10 donation to the math department is suggested to help cover the cost of contest materials. Donations can be made at: or can be made in person on the day of the contest, by cash or check made out to UNC Math Department.
